Heru Parāoa - Whale Bone Comb Inanga The Poi Āwhiowhio is aTraditional Maori heru are combs worn as functional hair ornaments by both men and women. Often the decorations on pre European heru were a symbol of mana and prestige. Thi heru was carved by Finau Katoa from pilot whale jaw bone. It measures 235mm by 130mm and has a semi gloss finish.
